This spring, Gallery A2 is ecstatic to present Dissolution, which showcases Georgie Friedman’s technical prowess and metaphoric complexity.

Her creative practice has created countless exchanges of knowledge and skills throughout the Artisans Asylum membership, culminating in Gallery A2’s first immersive sensorial installation experience.

Dissolution

1. •the action or process of dissolving or being dissolved: minerals susceptible to dissolution.
   

2. •the closing down or dismissal of an assembly, partnership, or official body: the dissolution of the legislature.
   

3. •disintegration; decomposition: the dissolution of the flesh.
   

4. •archaic – death.
   

For this installation, Friedman creates a quiet, subterranean-cave-like atmosphere. The dripping water and viscous imagery are liquids that transform matter between states, dissolving or building mass over time: icicles, amber, stalactites, etc.

This installation can be a refuge from the world, a place to quiet the mind and body, and a contemplative space to consider how elements, and our lives, change and transform.
