Navigating Art & Science at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, features eight artists who are deeply involved in scientific inquiry and activism. While local scientists search for ways to help ocean species be more resilient to survive the rapidly changing marine environment, these artists, alert to the predicament, are creating art with urgent messages for stewardship and action.
The exhibit coincides with a city-wide initiative STAND UP for Art & Science, coordinated by Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute volunteers.

About Incoming Ocean:
Thinking about the exhibition site, Rocky Neck in Gloucester, MA, where water is everyone's neighbor, Friedman created a visual metaphor acknowledging the danger facing coastal communities in relation to sea level rise, king tides, and storm surge flooding. As if viewing through an ocean carved space, we see the ocean moving in on us, crashing against the edges of the architecture - almost lapping at our feet. If we know the ocean is coming, what preventive measures can we take now?
