Above the Clouds is part of Flight Series (2010-11).
Photographs and videos, from high-altitude balloon flights into the Stratosphere, shift from concrete to abstract, through darkness and light, from subtle to violent motion. The lack of human control becomes evident as the camera within the balloon’s payload slowly records each flight’s unique events.
Using footage from one of the high-altitude balloon flights (Flight II), Above the Clouds transforms the building into a unified space, filled with a rotating, swaying, abstract atmosphere.
*Starting times will vary, as sunset shifts from approx. 4:30 - 5pm in January and from 5 - 5:30pm in February.
The installation is meant to be seen from across the street, at night.
This project has been supported by a grant from the Artists’ Resource Trust.
Receptions: Friday, January 7, 2011, 5-8pm
